U.S. President Donald Trump said that Palestinians in Gaza are in a state of hunger and need assistance. Despite the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, he expressed hope that “something very good will happen” within the next month.

When asked about Israel’s plans to expand the war in Gaza, Trump said,
“I think something very good will happen in the next month, we’ll see what happens. We also have to help our Palestinians. Many people in Gaza are starving, so we have to consider both sides.”

This marks his second time during his Middle East tour publicly expressing concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since March 2, 2024, Israel has completely stopped sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. They say this is a strategy to pressure Hamas into releasing a dozen Israeli hostages abducted in October 2023.

According to the United Nations and international human rights organizations, nearly 500,000 people in the Gaza Strip—meaning one in five Palestinians—are facing severe food shortages and are at risk of dying from starvation. Analysts say President Trump’s statement indicates a diplomatic effort to maintain balance between Israel and Palestine. His stance in favor of providing humanitarian aid could significantly influence future U.S. policy.

The world community’s attention is now focused on Gaza, where humanitarian suffering continues to worsen daily.
