"We Did Not Request a Ceasefire—India Showed Interest in It": Pakistan’s ISPR Spokesperson
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has stated that Pakistan did not request a ceasefire with India; rather, it was India that showed interest in the matter.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday night, the ISPR spokesperson claimed that the Pakistani military has been strictly adhering to the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC).
“We are strictly following the ceasefire commitment at the LoC. However, if the opposing side violates it, we will respond appropriately,” said Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif.
Addressing reports circulating on social media that an Indian pilot is currently in Pakistani custody, the ISPR firmly denied the claims. “Let me be clear—no Indian pilot is in Pakistan’s custody,” Lt. Gen. Sharif emphasized.
During the same briefing, Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed of the Pakistan Air Force claimed that, during the conflict, Pakistani forces destroyed several Indian military installations and so-called “terrorist” training centers. He further asserted that Pakistan achieved a 6–0 victory in aerial combat against the Indian Air Force.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif also remarked that the recent conflict only revealed a glimpse of Pakistan’s military strength:
“It should be remembered that Pakistan’s armed forces possess advanced combat capabilities, of which only a fraction has been utilized in the recent conflict. The rest remains reserved for the future,” he said.
However, he added that any escalation into a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan would be “utter foolishness.”
