Islamabad, May 10, 2025:
Following the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, an outpouring of relief and national pride was witnessed across Pakistan. From Lahore to Karachi, Islamabad to Muzaffarabad, the streets echoed with chants of “Pakistan Zindabad”, as citizens celebrated what many called a victory for peace and national dignity.
The ceasefire comes after several days of heightened military tension, bringing what many describe as a long-overdue sense of calm and reassurance.
In Lahore, a young man, Mohammad Fateh, shared his elation:
"Today is a big day for Pakistan. Our army responded with courage, and India was compelled to agree to a ceasefire," he said, surrounded by others waving flags and cheering.
In Islamabad, 45-year-old homemaker Zubaida Bibi expressed deep emotional relief:
"War only brings suffering. Now that peace is returning, it feels like Eid has come early. We have won," she said with visible joy.
Similar scenes were witnessed in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, where the public—long affected by cross-border violence—welcomed the announcement with cautious hope.
Local resident Zulfiqar Ali remarked, "For us, peace means a chance to survive. We’ve endured so much. I’m happy that Pakistan and India have finally made a wise decision."
Observers, civil society groups, and political analysts have termed this ceasefire as more than just a temporary truce—calling it a potential turning point for long-term peace and stability in South Asia.
They stress that the momentum for peace must be maintained through sustained dialogue, mutual respect, and genuine political will from both sides.
