Iranian Foreign Minister Meets Indian President, Expresses Solidarity Over Kashmir Attack

Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The visit comes at a significant moment, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Iran.

Welcoming Dr. Araghchi, President Murmu remarked that India and Iran share a relationship that dates back thousands of years. She noted the deep-rooted cultural ties between the two nations, reflected in areas such as art, literature, music, cuisine, and language.

The President emphasized that the bilateral relationship is built on a strong foundation of regular high-level exchanges. Over the past 75 years, India-Iran relations have expanded across diverse sectors including culture, trade, energy cooperation, and strategic coordination at both regional and international levels.

President Murmu further stated that the two countries have not only maintained a long-standing friendship but have also worked together toward regional peace and prosperity. She praised the ongoing collaboration on the Chabahar Port project, expressing hope that it will open doors to even greater opportunities in the future.

She also thanked the Iranian government for its message of sympathy and solidarity following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in India-administered Kashmir.

President Murmu expressed confidence that Dr. Araghchi’s visit would further strengthen the bilateral ties between India and Iran.
