The Taliban government of Afghanistan has expressed concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, warning that a further intensification of the crisis could pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In a statement published Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter), the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said,
“We urge both countries to exercise restraint and resolve their issues through dialogue and diplomacy.”
The ministry further stated,
“Security and stability are in the collective interest of all countries in the region. The ongoing India-Pakistan tension runs counter to these interests.”
Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are already strained, particularly over security issues and Pakistan’s recent deportation of Afghan nationals. Since the beginning of April, Pakistan has repatriated thousands of Afghans, sparking growing discontent in Kabul.
In this context, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan made it clear:
“Escalation of tensions benefits no one in the region. A peaceful resolution through dialogue remains the only viable path forward.”
Analysts are viewing the Taliban government’s remarks as significant in the context of regional diplomacy, especially concerning peace and security in the Afghan subcontinent.
