Houthi Group Launches Third Attack on Israel in 24 Hours – Tel Aviv Claims Interception of Missile
[Cairo, May 3, 2025] – According to a Reuters report:The Israeli military said on Saturday that a missile launched from Yemen had been intercepted. Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack. This marks the third such assault within the past 24 hours.
The Israeli army reported that sirens were triggered in several parts of Israel following the missile launch. However, no casualties or major damage have been reported so far.
A spokesperson for the Houthi military acknowledged responsibility for the attack in a statement. Meanwhile, the United States has intensified its airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. In March, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered a large-scale air campaign against the Houthi rebels aimed at weakening their military capabilities and preventing attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
This offensive is being considered the largest U.S. military operation in the Middle East during President Trump’s administration.
The Houthi rebels have stated that they are attacking Israel and commercial ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinians amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza.
They have also warned that in response to Israel’s renewed offensive in Gaza in mid-March—which broke a two-month-long ceasefire following the collapse of mediation talks—they will expand the scope of their attacks on Israel.
