According to a CBS News report, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will replace National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Rubio will serve in both roles simultaneously.

Mike Waltz is stepping down from his position at the White House, and shortly after news of his departure was made public, President Donald Trump announced, “I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Mike Waltz as the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Mike has always prioritized our nation’s interests. I know he will continue to do so in his new role.”

Trump also stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will take on the responsibilities of National Security Advisor and will serve in both roles at the same time.

“We will continue our tireless efforts together for the security of America and the world,” Trump said.
