Washington – According to a report by CBS News – On Tuesday, marking 100 days into his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted immigration crackdown as a "major success" and spoke of new economic measures to support the auto industry at a rally in Michigan.
Speaking at a rally held at Macomb Community College in Detroit, Trump said, “We have only just begun — you haven’t seen anything yet,” and claimed that the first few months of his second term were “the most successful 100 days in American history.”
He added, “Week by week, we are stopping illegal immigration. I believe the main reason for my election victory was illegal immigration and border security — people from all over the world were crossing our borders.”
Trump further stated, “The most dangerous criminals are being sent to high-security prisons in El Salvador.” He then showed a video of a recent deportation.
He said, “We have recorded the lowest level of illegal border crossings in history.”
‘We are bringing our jobs back’
Turning to economic policy, Trump said he signed an executive order on Tuesday that would offer some relief on the 25% tariff imposed on U.S. automobile companies.
He said, “I’m giving them a little break. They’re going to make a lot of money and create a lot of jobs.”
“I proudly imposed a 25% tariff on all foreign cars... this will create more jobs in this state and across the country,” he said.
Trump announced, “We are bringing our jobs back and protecting our great American auto workers. Instead of prioritizing China, I am prioritizing Michigan — I am prioritizing America.”
He also claimed that foreign leaders are eager to make trade deals with the U.S.
“They’re coming from all over the world... they want to make deals,” Trump said. “But we don’t need them — because we have everything right here.”
