Dubai: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Sudan's Interim Sovereign Council Head General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan met in Cairo on Monday. During the meeting, they discussed ways to restore stability in Sudan and promote development.
According to a report by Ahram Online, the two leaders also consulted on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing various regional issues.
Al-Burhan's visit comes at a time when ongoing clashes between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have left the country in turmoil.
In March, after a major military operation, Al-Burhan declared Khartoum free from RSF control.
The war began in April 2023 over a dispute regarding the integration of the RSF into the military, which has already resulted in over 10,000 deaths, with both sides accused of inhumanity and violence.
Sudan remains deeply divided, with the north and east under the control of the military, while Darfur and parts of the south are under RSF control.
