[Tehran, April 28, 2025] — According to a report by the news agency Arab News, the foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia held a telephone conversation on Monday, during which they consulted on bilateral relations as well as various regional and international issues.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident that occurred at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee port.
He extended condolences and sympathy on behalf of Saudi Arabia to the families of the victims and to the Iranian government and people, and offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked the senior Saudi officials for their message of sympathy.

Highlighting the increasing insecurity in the Middle East due to the continued crimes of Israeli occupying forces in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as repeated aggression against Lebanon, Araghchi explained Iran’s position on the regional situation.
He said the ongoing genocide must be stopped, and that the international community must unite—this is one of the most horrific human rights violations of this century.

Additionally, Araghchi briefed the Saudi Foreign Minister on the latest developments in the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States.
