FBI Chief Assures Full Support to India in Fight Against Terror Following Kashmir Attack
Kash Patel, Washington | April 27, 2025
FBI Director Kash Patel, who is of Indian origin, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. He described the attack as “a grim reminder of the global threat of terrorism” and assured the Indian government of full support from the United States.
The deadly April attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 people, many of whom were tourists. The incident has sent shockwaves across various parts of the country.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Patel expressed condolences to the victims' families and wrote:
"On behalf of the FBI, we extend our deepest condolences to the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir and stand committed to fully supporting the Indian government.
This incident reminds us that the world is not safe until terrorism is eradicated. We are praying for those affected and express our gratitude to the law enforcement officers who always stand by the people."
U.S. President Donald Trump also called the attack a “horrific event.” However, he maintained a neutral stance, saying, “I am very close to India,” and added, “The Kashmir issue is nearly 1,500 years old. I know the leaders of both countries and hope they can reach a resolution.” He refrained from taking sides and appeared to aim for political balance.
Trump personally called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strongly condemn the attack and assured India of complete support in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
U.S. Congress Takes a Clear Stance
The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee posted a clarification on X, correcting a New York Times report that had referred to the gunmen as “militants” or “fighters.” The committee firmly stated that they view the attackers as “terrorists.”
