Palestinians in Gaza Receive Solidarity in Karachi, Pakistan: Thousands Protest
Karachi, Pakistan | April 20, 2025
According to a report by Pakistan's state news agency Dawn, thousands of people participated in a massive protest in Karachi on Sunday to express solidarity with the people of Palestine. The protest was organized by Pakistan's main religious political party, Jamaat-e-Islami, against Israel's aggression in Gaza.
This protest was one of the largest public gatherings held in Pakistan since the recent Israeli attacks on Gaza. Local TV channel Geo News reported that a significant number of women also participated in the demonstration.
Originally planned to be held near the U.S. embassy, the protest was moved to the Zero Point area of the capital after discussions between Jamaat-e-Islami and the Ministry of Interior. Protesters filled the streets holding Palestinian and party flags, chanting slogans such as "Down with Israel," "Down with America," and "Labbaik Ya Gaza."
Jamaat-e-Islami Leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said,
“We do not want to clash with the government or police, but we must remember that the United States is not our friend—they are the main sponsor of the Zionist regime, which has killed thousands of unarmed women and children in Gaza.”
He further stated,
“Arab rulers who remain silent on Israel's crimes in order to please America should not forget—they will also be the next target of Israel.”
Ongoing Conflict Situation
Israeli forces resumed their attacks on Gaza on March 18, killing 1,827 people so far. These attacks have shattered the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached on January 19.
Since October 2023, more than 51,200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli aggression in Gaza, the majority of whom are women and children.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Additionally, a case of genocide is ongoing against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
