The Israeli army released around 80 Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning. According to local sources, the prisoners were released through the Kisufim crossing, located east of the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza, which is under Israeli control.

Medical sources reported that at least 10 of the released individuals were in critical condition and were immediately taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, for treatment.

A doctor stated, "One of the released individuals is in extremely critical condition. He is unable to move and shows visible signs of torture on his body."

Neither Israel nor Hamas has made any official statement regarding this latest release.

Earlier this year in January, hundreds of Palestinian detainees from Gaza were released as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. However, the exact number of Palestinians currently held in Israeli prisons remains unclear, though it is estimated to be in the thousands.

On March 18, Israel resumed military operations in Gaza, during which approximately 1,500 people were killed and 3,700 injured, effectively breaking the January ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans to intensify attacks on Gaza, a move that many interpret as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s alleged plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza.

Since the beginning of Israel’s military offensive in October 2023, over 50,800 people have been killed in Gaza, the majority of them women and children.

Notably, in November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, a genocide case against Israel is ongoing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
