No Final Decision on Bringing Sheikh Hasina Back with India: Bangladesh Foreign Ministry The Foreign Adviser of Bangladesh, Mohammad Touhid Hossain, has stated that no final decision has been made regarding the return of Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of Bangladesh, raised the issue of Sheikh Hasina's return, but no conclusive talks have taken place.
He said, "We have asked them (India) to return her, so she can face trial. However, no final discussions have been made regarding this matter."
He made these comments during a press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday in response to questions from journalists.
He further added, "Mr. Modi has made it clear that their relationship is with the people of this country, not with any specific political party. He clarified this point."
Regarding the issue of visas for India, in response to another question, he said, "A visa is the complete sovereign right of a country. If they do not issue it, there is nothing we can do. You cannot tell them why they are not issuing it. If we want, we can stop issuing visas as well, just like we temporarily halted it before and have now resumed."
"If the reasons for our people traveling to India can be addressed in another country, I will try to make that happen. If India wants to reach out, their interests will be fulfilled, and so will ours. We know, especially Kolkata’s economy and hospitals are suffering due to the visa restrictions," he added.
