London, April 5 – With the end of the Ukraine-Russia war still distant, Britain's former intelligence chief Sir Alex Younger has warned that Britain must prepare to counter Putin's aggressive plans and build armed forces and reserve strength through a national service.

Sir Alex Younger, who was known as "C" when he served as head of MI6, stated that the threat between Russia and the United States remains real and must be addressed. He said, "Putin and Trump have tried to convince us that the rules have changed."

Younger further stated, "We have significantly reduced our military capabilities, and that is a big problem. We haven't faced an existential threat for a long time, but it is now critical to properly prepare for defense."

He added, "We’ve been accustomed to thinking of the military like the England football team, they go and do their job, and we watch them on TV – but that can’t happen anymore."

He proposed that the British government and the public must now create a larger reserve system, where citizens will participate as part of a collective military preparation in their daily lives.

Sir Alex remarked, "I don't know how effective conscription (mandatory military service) would be, but it must be a much broader and more creative idea."

Meanwhile, former US NATO ambassador Dr. Rachel Ellehuus stated that Putin is attempting to redraw Europe's map, and the Trump administration helped bring significant changes to Europe's security framework.

She warned that undeclared attacks between Russia and Europe are on the rise, particularly as Russia challenges the security of NATO member countries.

Sir Alex stated, "Putin wants to weaken the Western countries, and in the face of such continued threats, it is vital that we are prepared."

This is a moment when the world’s major powers are seeking to extend their influence, and Britain must now rebuild its defense system to effectively resist Putin’s attacks.
