Moscow, April 2, 2025 (TSS) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated participants of a meeting held on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, highlighting the historic relationship between the two countries and the combination of their spiritual and moral values.

In a message published on the Kremlin's website, Putin said, "I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus. This day symbolizes the strong bond of friendship between our peoples, the similarity of our historical fate, and spiritual values. In the current challenging international situation, the joint efforts of Russia and Belarus are extremely important for ensuring the security of the Union State."

He further noted that in the more than 25 years of efforts to form the Union State, Russia and Belarus have achieved significant success, creating a new chapter in the development of mutual solidarity and harmony between the two countries. He said, "The citizens of Russia and Belarus enjoy equal rights, including in healthcare, education, social and pension insurance, and also have the right to choose their place of residence and employment."

Putin emphasized that Russia and Belarus are working together to defend their legitimate foreign policy interests and to establish "a just multilateral world order" in cooperation with international partners. He added, "The 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the preservation of the achievements of the victorious generation have strengthened the common determination of both countries to oppose any form of neo-Nazism and to ensure peace and security worldwide."

Putin expressed optimism that the Russia-Belarus relationship will continue to develop actively and in all aspects in the future. He said, "This is fully consistent with the interests of the peoples of Russia and Belarus."
