French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that Israel's attack in Beirut this morning is "unacceptable" and violates the ceasefire. He added that such an attack "works in favor of Hezbollah."

Macron said, "Israel’s attack on Lebanon is unacceptable, what happened is unjust and unnecessary. For this reason, France will continue to stand by you to ensure your sovereignty and security." He made these comments after a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the Élysée Palace.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed Lebanon's economic reforms and the country's stability in light of the violation of the ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Macron confirmed that the Lebanese army has been deployed across southern Lebanon and assured that there is no presence of Hezbollah there.

He also stated, "We want to reiterate that Hezbollah’s unilateral actions cannot violate the ceasefire."

"The parties must respect their obligations so that the achieved success is not undermined. Israeli forces must vacate the five points they occupy in southern Lebanon and allow the people living there to return to their homes."
