Washington: President Trump defended his National Security Advisor Mike Waltz on Tuesday after his administration faced questions regarding the use of the Signal app to discuss a potential attack on Houthi targets in Yemen. The leak occurred after a journalist accidentally joined a group chat where highly classified plans for the attack were discussed in detail.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated that the information discussed in the 18-member group chat was not classified, and he praised Mike Waltz as "a very good man" who would "keep doing good work."

The President added, "I don't think he needs to apologize. He is doing his best," and further remarked, "It’s a technology that is flawed, and maybe he won’t use it anymore, at least in the near future."

The news of the discussion over the Signal app regarding the March 15 attack on Houthi targets was reported on Monday by The Atlantic magazine’s editor, Jeffrey Goldberg. Goldberg's article revealed that an account under Mike Waltz’s name mistakenly added him to the chat. A few days later, an account under the name "Pete Hegseth" shared critical information such as the weapons package, targets, and timing of the attack.
