President Vladimir Putin thanks the UAE for active mediation in Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchange
Moscow, March 24 — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday expressed his gratitude to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its active mediation efforts in facilitating prisoner exchanges between Russia and neighboring Ukraine.
A statement from the Kremlin said, "On behalf of Russia, gratitude has been expressed to the UAE for their active mediation assistance, which has helped in the prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine."
In this phone conversation, Putin and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also discussed the current state of Russia–United States dialogue regarding Ukraine and the prospects of restoring diplomatic relations. The UAE president expressed his support for efforts being made by both Moscow and Washington on this matter.
The statement further mentioned that the ongoing discussions between Russia and the United States in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were jointly supported, as they could contribute to resolving the Ukraine crisis.
Putin and bin Zayed positively assessed the current level of strategic relations between Russia and the UAE and also discussed the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in trade, economics, and humanitarian sectors.
