Ukrainian President Zelensky Arrives at White House for High-Level Talks with President Trump

Washington – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived at the White House on Thursday to engage in a crucial high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. The primary focus of the meeting is to seek assurances from the U.S. regarding ongoing security support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.

In addition to discussions on security, Zelensky’s delegation is expected to sign an economic agreement, marking a significant step in the effort to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. This comes three years after Russia's invasion of eastern Ukraine.

Upon arrival, President Trump greeted Zelensky with a handshake, and the two leaders briefly acknowledged the press, with Trump raising his fist in a gesture of solidarity. Neither leader responded to any questions posed by journalists.

The leaders are set to continue their discussions in the Oval Office before proceeding to a lunch and a press conference. Zelensky’s visit marks his fifth trip to the U.S. since becoming president. Prior to his meeting with Trump, he also held talks with members of the U.S. Senate.

On Friday, President Zelensky is scheduled to give a speech at the Hudson Institute, a prominent think tank in Washington, D.C. He is also expected to meet with members of the Ukrainian community in the United States, further strengthening ties with the Ukrainian diaspora.

This high-stakes meeting between the two leaders is being closely watched, as it may pave the way for continued U.S. support for Ukraine and play a pivotal role in the ongoing geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe.
