Bangladesh's New Political Party 'National Citizen Party' Launched

The newly formed political party, 'National Citizen Party', was officially unveiled today, Friday, in an event held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital Dhaka.

During the event, the party's convenor Nahid Islam, general secretary Akhtar Hossain, senior joint convenor Samantha Sharmin, chief coordinator Hasnat Abdullah, and Sargis Alam, along with other top leaders, were announced.

The event began at 4:30 pm with readings from religious scriptures including the Quran, Bhagavad Gita, Bible, and Tripitaka, followed by the national anthem.

Family members of some of those who lost their lives in the July movement, several activists from Awami League, BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami, and leaders from various political parties attended the event.

Invited guests included BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anni, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Coordinator of Ganasanghati Andolon Zunayed Saki, and Chairman of a faction of LDP, Shahadat Hossain Selim. Supporters of the party from various regions of the country attended the event with processions.
