Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that U.S. President Donald Trump is living in a 'world of confusion' created by Russia.
In a press conference, he mentioned that anyone who wants to take his place as a leader right now would not succeed, as he still enjoys high support.
Citing a survey, Mr. Zelensky said that 58% of the Ukrainian people have confidence in him as a leader. He claimed that a lot of misinformation is being spread from Russia. "With all due respect to Donald Trump as a leader, I must say... he is living in a world of confusion," he said.
Zelensky was elected in 2019 for a five-year term. In a press conference on Tuesday, Donald Trump said that Zelensky’s support had dropped to less than 4%.
Zelensky stated that the 4% propaganda being spread by Russia is contrary to the evidence Ukraine has, and "this number is being discussed between the U.S. and Russia."
It remains unclear on what basis Mr. Trump spoke about Zelensky's popularity. Due to the war, the country has limited opportunities for elections or surveys.
However, a survey by the Kyiv-based Kyiv International Institute of Sociology this month revealed that 57% of Ukrainians still support Mr. Zelensky.
In 2023, his popularity was 77%, and in May 2022, it was 90%. Therefore, his popularity has decreased compared to earlier.
