The ICC Champions Trophy is back after an eight-year hiatus. This prestigious One-Day International (ODI) tournament will be hosted in Pakistan. Pakistan, who won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, is hosting an ICC event for the first time since the 1996 World Cup.

The world’s top 8 men’s cricket teams will compete in this 19-day tournament (from February 19 to March 9). India and Pakistan will face each other in the group stage.

Group Teams:

  • Group A: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, New Zealand
  • Group B: Afghanistan, Australia, England, South Africa

Format of ICC Champions Trophy: The tournament will be played in a simple round-robin format in the group stage, where the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals. Each team will earn 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw or "no result", and no points for a loss. In case of tied points, the semifinalists will be determined based on net run rate.

Venues for ICC Champions Trophy: Pakistan will host 9 out of the 15 matches at home. However, the Indian team will play all their matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE due to the Indian government's refusal to send their team to Pakistan. If India qualifies for the knockout stage, they will play the first semifinal in Dubai. If India reaches the final, the match will be moved from Lahore to Dubai.

Three venues in Pakistan will be used during the tournament: National Stadium in Karachi, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
