A significant meeting was held on Tuesday between U.S. President Donald Trump and King Abdullah II of Jordan, focusing on Trump’s plan to take control of Gaza and relocate Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt. This meeting marked the first visit of an Arab leader to the White House since the start of Trump’s second term.

The main focus of the meeting was Trump's proposal, where he stated that the U.S. would take control of Gaza and relocate its residents to other areas. Critics have labeled this plan as ethnic cleansing.

Trump stated, "We will take it, we will hold it, we will rebuild it, and we will create many job opportunities here." However, the plan suggested relocating Gaza's residents to Jordan and Egypt, which many view as disregarding the region's political realities.

Meanwhile, Jordan and Egypt have rejected this pressure, and King Abdullah, while not directly rejecting Trump's plan, hinted that an alternative plan would soon be presented by Egypt. He mentioned that Arab states would come up with their own plan for Gaza, which would be revealed once finalized.

Following the meeting, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stated that the Arab countries' plan for Gaza would involve reconstruction without displacing its people.

It was clear from this meeting that Trump’s plan to take control of Gaza reflects his business mindset and interest in real estate. However, it overlooks the deep attachment Palestinians feel towards their land.
