Washington: After the release of the latest hostages, John Pollin and Rachel Goldberg-Pollin, parents of U.S. citizen Hersh Goldberg-Pollin, who was abducted from Israel on October 7, 2023, and later killed by Hamas, sent a video message to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging the release of the remaining 76 hostages.
In the video posted on Instagram, John Pollin and Rachel Goldberg-Pollin, whose son Hersh had been held captive for 11 months after being abducted, reacted to the news of the release of Eli Shurabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Amir. These three Israeli nationals were abducted by Hamas and were recently released. However, despite their release, the Goldberg-Pollin family expressed deep concern about Hersh's death and the fate of other captives.
In the video, John Pollin said, "Seeing this, we know we must do more. I am directly appealing to President Trump and Mr. Witkoff—you're the only ones who can move this situation forward. Now we must move ahead with a swift and larger plan. Release the 76 hostages this week, and end this war."
Hersh Goldberg-Pollin and five other hostages were killed by Hamas in August when Israeli forces attempted to rescue them from captivity. After being held by Hamas, Goldberg-Pollin was left severely injured, having lost his left hand in an explosion.
Meanwhile, the three released hostages have begun to come to terms with their tragedy after returning. Following the release of Shurabi, Levy, and Ben Amir, one piece of bad news after another has surfaced within their families, which has been emotionally difficult for them.
