India's BJP Returns to Power in Delhi After 27 Years with a Stunning Victory under Prime Minister Modi's Leadership

Delhi, February 8 – Under the leadership of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has regained power in Delhi for the first time in 27 years, marking a significant achievement for the Hindu-nationalist leader following a disappointing outcome in last year's national elections.

The BJP won 48 out of the 70 seats in Delhi, while the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured 22 seats, led by Arvind Kejriwal, a fierce critic of Modi. According to data from India's Election Commission, the BJP's victory represents a major shift in Delhi's political landscape.

Modi wrote on the social media platform X, "It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi and improving the overall quality of life for the people."

AAP, which emerged from an anti-corruption movement in 2012, achieved its first electoral success in Delhi and had governed the territory, which includes India's parliament and federal government offices in New Delhi, for two terms from 2015.
