Beirut, February 8 – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced the formation of a new government on Saturday, opening a new chapter in Lebanon's political situation. The 24-member government is evenly divided between the Christian and Muslim communities.

The formation of this government was announced 26 days after Salam was tasked with forming it. Earlier, Prime Minister Salam stated that his goal is to create a reformative and salvational government, as he believes that reform is the only way to rebuild Lebanon. He added, "Together with President Aoun, we have started the work to build a new Lebanon."

Salam further stated, "The diversity of ministerial positions will not create any obstacles. We will work together, and this will establish the foundation for the rule of law and institutions." He mentioned working with parliament to implement constitutional reforms and financial-economic reforms.

The new government consists of 24 ministers. Notably, as part of a technocratic government, there are no direct representatives of political parties. The government includes five women ministers, and a new ministry has been created dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI).

With the announcement of the new government, a significant shift has occurred in Lebanon's political landscape. Notably, this government has been formed without being influenced by Hezbollah and its allies and is instead a technocratic and reform-oriented government.

On the other hand, this government may face various challenges due to Lebanon's ongoing economic crisis and ongoing terrorist activities.
