Gaza — The Indonesia Hospital in Gaza has resumed its 24-hour emergency services, according to the NGO that funded the hospital. The hospital was severely damaged in Israeli attacks in October, and repairs are now underway.

Due to the financial and healthcare crisis, the Gaza Ministry of Health requested the reopening of the emergency department. Since February 1, the hospital has been providing 24-hour emergency services, which will help alleviate overcrowding at Gaza's largest hospital, Al-Awda.

Located in Beit Lahiya, near the Jabalia refugee camp, the Indonesia Hospital is a four-story building constructed with donations from the Jakarta-based Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C). Indonesian and Palestinian doctors are currently providing services at the hospital.

Hadiki Habib, head of MER-C’s latest batch of emergency medical teams in Gaza, said, “Currently, the hospital is only treating minor trauma patients. However, we aim to expand our services once the repairs to the emergency department are completed.”

Two Indonesian specialist doctors and one nurse are working alongside Palestinian volunteer doctors to provide emergency services. Many patients are suffering from injuries sustained during Israeli attacks, which had not been treated until after the ceasefire took effect.

Furthermore, new injuries are occurring as people clean up rubble during Gaza's reconstruction process. Yogi Prabowo, chairman of MER-C's executive committee, said, "North Gaza, which was heavily impacted by the war, certainly requires special care, particularly in emergency health services, and this will be our focus."

The Indonesia Hospital was one of the first targets hit when Israel began its assault on Gaza.
