New York: During his upcoming visit to the United States, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to meet Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The meeting could focus on Tesla’s entry into the Indian market and potential collaborations between SpaceX and ISRO.

Prime Minister Modi will be in the United States from February 12 to 14, where he will hold bilateral talks with newly elected President Donald Trump. On February 13, Modi is scheduled to meet with a select group of top executives, where Elon Musk is expected to be present. Discussions during this meeting could revolve around Tesla’s market entry plans in India and the launch of Starlink services.

Tesla's Entry into the Indian Market: Elon Musk has expressed interest in launching Tesla’s advanced electric cars in India. While there has been a positive response from the Indian government, no firm commitment has been made about starting car production in India. However, the Indian government has initiated a project to attract electric vehicle manufacturers, which increases the likelihood of Tesla entering the Indian market by 2025.

SpaceX and ISRO Collaboration: The meeting could also discuss potential collaboration between Musk's SpaceX and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Both organizations may explore opportunities to work together in the field of space technology and exploration.

Starlink Approval: Additionally, Elon Musk is seeking regulatory approval from the Indian government to launch Starlink satellite internet services. Starlink aims to provide high-speed internet in remote and underserved areas via a satellite constellation.

Elon Musk’s Influence: Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration, could use his influence to promote his business interests in India and facilitate the launch of his ventures in the country.

Tesla’s Affordable EVs in India: Tesla plans to launch an affordable electric vehicle in India, which could enter the market by 2025. This affordable car could serve as an entry point for Tesla in India.

Although Musk has been uncertain about starting local production in India, the delay in this decision could be due to the slow global EV sales. In 2023, Tesla's global sales saw a decline for the first time in a decade, trailing behind Chinese competitor BYD in sales.
