Sweden's Orebro School Faces Deadly Shooting, Five Injured, Police Investigating
In a shooting incident at a school in Orebro, Sweden, five people have been injured. Police are investigating the attack as an "attempted murder, arson, and violation of firearms laws."
The attack reportedly took place at the Campus Risbergska, an adult education center located near other schools in the city. Following the incident, students were kept indoors for safety, and police have been deployed to the scene.
Authorities have urged the public to stay away from the area. No detailed information about the victims' conditions has been released yet.
Sweden's Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer has stated that the government is in close contact with the relevant authorities, emphasizing that "the news of the attack in Orebro is very serious."
Although school attacks are rare in Sweden, there have been some significant incidents in recent years. In March 2022, an 18-year-old student fatally stabbed two teachers at a high school in the southern city of Malmo. Earlier, in 2021, a 16-year-old student wounded another student and a teacher at a school in Kristianstad.
Additionally, in October 2015, a racially-motivated attacker wielding a sword killed three people at a school in Trollhattan.
