Dubai: Syria's President Ahmed Al-Shara arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday for his first foreign trip, according to local media reports.

Syria's state news agency "SANA" reported that President Al-Shara is accompanied by Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani for the visit.

Al-Shara is set to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, as per SANA's report.

This marks President Al-Shara's first foreign visit since his appointment to the presidency, just two months after his group helped overthrow Bashar Al-Assad.

Last month, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan visited Damascus and mentioned that Saudi Arabia was engaged in talks with Europe and the United States to help lift the economic sanctions imposed on Syria, which have severely impacted the country's economy.
