January 26, 2025 – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on Saturday announced the suspension of aid to Bangladesh's Interim Government led by Mohammad Yunus, following a decision by US President Donald Trump to suspend all foreign assistance for 90 days.

This decision came after the State Department’s “stop-work” order on Friday, which halted all foreign assistance and paused new aid under Trump’s new executive order issued on January 20. Only Israel and Egypt are excluded from this order.

According to NPR, a memorandum signed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that a comprehensive review of foreign assistance across the government will be completed within 85 days, followed by a report that will be sent to the President for consideration based on the Secretary of State's advice and recommendations.

As a result of this decision, the aid to Bangladesh and other countries may be impacted, but further details and guidance on the effective impact of this decision will be provided soon.
