Ella Toone's stunning hat-trick secured a 4-2 victory for Manchester United in the Manchester Derby. This victory marks the first time that United has surpassed their local rivals, Manchester City, in the Barclays Women's Super League.

The match, held at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, saw goals from Toone and Leah Galton for United. Meanwhile, City's Vivianne Miedema and Rebecca Knaak scored goals, but these were merely consolation goals.

United's Dominance in the First Half United showcased their strength in the first half. In the 14th minute, Toone’s shot beat goalkeeper Khiara Keating to open the scoring. Six minutes later, Leah Galton scored United's second goal from a poorly defended corner.

City struggled with a lack of attacking threat and the absence of star striker Bunny Shaw, which exacerbated their troubles. The repeated defensive errors left City unable to cope with United's attack.

Ella Toone’s Hat-Trick and the Dramatic Second Half In the second half, Toone completed her hat-trick, capitalizing on another costly error by City's goalkeeper Keating. Before this, Miedema and Knaak had reduced the deficit for City with goals in the first half, but in the second half, United maintained the pressure, and City's lack of consistency in attack led to their downfall.

League Position and Future Prospects This victory lifted Manchester United to third place in the league table, with just a seven-point gap to the top. On the other hand, Manchester City, facing the Champions League knockout stage, now face a major challenge to regain their form.

United's coach, Marc Skinner, said, "This victory will boost the team's confidence and strengthen our position in the league." Meanwhile, City's coach, Gareth Taylor, expressed disappointment due to the lack of consistency within the team.
