Washington, January 23 – U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of troops along the southern border to prevent illegal immigration. Under this measure, 1,000 soldiers and 500 Navy personnel will be relocated to San Diego, California, and El Paso, Texas. However, military officials have stated that the troops will not be involved in law enforcement activities.

A senior military officer mentioned that the soldiers will be sent to areas along the U.S.-Mexico border, using C-17 and C-130 aircraft, helicopters, and other military resources. The Trump administration claims that this action will help expel illegal immigrants from the country.

Acting Defense Secretary Robert Celeste said that more than 5,000 military aircraft would be supplied to conduct operations against illegal immigrants on the southern border. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt announced that, according to President Trump's latest executive order, an additional 1,500 troops will be sent.

She added, "Anyone crossing the border illegally will face severe consequences. The American people are waiting for a time when their safety can be guaranteed, and this action is America's number one priority."

Additionally, a bill to address illegal immigration has passed in the House, which is expected to soon become law. The amended version of the "Laken Riley" Act passed with a 263-156 vote. This bill specifically targets undocumented immigrants who have been accused or convicted of serious crimes.
