Despite the ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli military violence kills 2 in Jenin refugee camp
The Israeli military has killed two people in a raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Tuesday. Although the ceasefire in Gaza has entered its third day, violence continues unabated.
In a statement, the Israeli military said, "Counterterrorism operations have been initiated in the area." The identities of those killed in the Jenin refugee camp, a known focal point for Israeli operations during the 15-month Israel-Hamas war, were not immediately disclosed.
Violence in the West Bank has intensified during the ongoing Gaza conflict. Israel claims it is acting to eliminate terrorism. The Palestinian Health Ministry reports that more than 800 people have been killed in Israeli raids since the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.
