Beitunia, January 20, 2025 – A jubilant atmosphere took over the city of Beitunia in the West Bank as two Red Cross buses carrying 90 freed Palestinian prisoners arrived from Israeli jails. Hundreds of Palestinian residents expressed their joy with chants, car horns, and fireworks.

The streets of Beitunia were filled with celebration, with many climbing on top of buses, waving Hamas flags, the Palestinian national flag, as well as flags of Fatah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other armed resistance groups. This was reported by AFP news agency.

Inside the buses, many of the released Palestinian female prisoners were seen smiling and making victory signs. These 90 prisoners, released on Monday morning, comprised women and children and were the first among more than 1,000 prisoners set to be freed under the initial phase of a ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
