Palestinian families in Gaza spent several tense hours as they awaited the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners by Israeli authorities. This followed the release of three Israeli captives held by Hamas in Gaza, completed on the first day of the ceasefire agreement.
As the ceasefire takes effect, people in Gaza are returning to their devastated homes and waiting for much-needed food and medical aid. Following the end of a 15-month blockade by Israeli forces, the first aid trucks have entered Gaza. The initial phase of the agreement promises the entry of 600 aid trucks into Gaza daily, with the first trucks already arriving.
The war on Gaza, launched by Israel on October 7, 2023, has resulted in at least 46,913 Palestinian deaths and 110,750 injuries. On the other hand, the Hamas attack on that day led to the death of at least 1,139 Israelis, with over 200 people taken captive.
