Gazans Allowed to Return Home as Ceasefire Agreement Takes Effect Tomorrow at 8:30 AM - Qatari Foreign Ministry
The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will take effect on Sunday at 8:30 AM (GMT 6:30 AM). Qatari Foreign Minister Majid Al-Ansari shared this information in a post, urging people to exercise caution and wait for official directives as the ceasefire becomes effective.
On Friday night, the Israeli cabinet approved the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which will temporarily halt the 15-month conflict with Hamas and lead to the release of several dozen prisoners. This marks a significant step forward for both sides in ending one of the most destructive and deadly conflicts in Gaza.
In the first phase of the ceasefire, 33 Israeli prisoners will be released in exchange for the release of over 700 Palestinian prisoners by Israel. The list of released prisoners includes some young individuals and women. The release will be executed before 4 PM local time (GMT 2:00 PM) on Sunday.
During the ceasefire, Israeli forces will withdraw to a buffer zone in certain areas of Gaza, allowing local residents to return to their homes. There will be an influx of humanitarian aid to the devastated regions of Gaza, with aid-laden trucks preparing at Egypt's Rafah border.
Meanwhile, on the first day of the ceasefire, three female prisoners will be released by Hamas, with the remaining prisoners to be released over the following five weeks.
This ceasefire comes amid increased international pressure to end the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
