Moscow, January 17 – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Moscow on Friday for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the signing of a strategic partnership agreement aimed at strengthening defense cooperation, which could raise concerns in the West.

This is Pezeshkian's first visit to the Kremlin since being elected president last July. At the start of his visit, he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin Wall.

The agreement between Iran and Russia has gained strategic importance following recent setbacks faced by both countries in the Middle East. Discussions will cover bilateral relations and international issues. Experts believe that the use of Iranian drones in the Ukraine war and this new agreement may heighten concerns among Western nations.

Through the signing of this agreement, defense ties between Iran and Russia will be further strengthened, adding a new dimension to the international geopolitical landscape.
