New York, January 17, 2025 — Following the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, hundreds of protesters gathered at New York City's Times Square to express solidarity with Palestine. On Thursday night, the demonstrators praised Palestinian "resistance" and vowed to continue their protests.

Participants in the assembly carried banners reading, "The struggle continues until Palestine is free," and "Resistance to occupation is a human right." The protesters chanted slogans like "Glory to the resistance, we will win" and "Long live the Intifada."

Speakers at the event urged continued anti-Israel actions despite the ceasefire. "Our work has just begun," one speaker said. "Gaza has shown us that the enemy’s defeat is clear and visible." Another speaker referred to the "heroism of the resistance" and described Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, as the "Al Aqsa Flood."

"The cost was high, but every revolution is," he remarked. "Now is not the time for rest but to reignite the fire." He added, "Today marks the beginning of a new chapter, and we will not pause even after the ceasefire."

Various socialist organizations, including the Palestinian Youth Movement and The People's Forum, participated in the rally. A few pro-Israel protesters countered by singing "Am Yisrael Chai" (The People of Israel Live) in Hebrew from across the police barricades.

"Within Our Lifetime," a prominent anti-Israel organization, stated in a release, "Gaza has won, Palestine has won, the resistance has won. Imperialism and Zionism have been defeated."

Since October 8, 2023, hundreds of protests have taken place across various locations in New York City.
