A meeting is set to take place in Thailand to discuss the current unstable situation in Myanmar, with neighboring countries to be involved.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Mohammad Touhid Hossain will join the meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on Thursday. He left Dhaka for Bangkok on Wednesday to attend the meeting.
Representatives from Thailand, India, China, and Laos will also participate in the meeting, along with Bangladesh. The meeting will focus on issues concerning Myanmar's border situation, criminal activities, the country's future, and the actions that neighboring countries should take.
According to the Foreign Affairs Adviser, discussions will emphasize the safe and dignified return of nearly 1.3 million Rohingyas, who have taken refuge in Bangladesh after fleeing Myanmar.
The main objective for Bangladesh is to ensure the safe return of the Rohingyas to Myanmar once the current war situation in Myanmar stabilizes.
Due to the ongoing conflict near the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, ferry services on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route are currently suspended.
