Real Madrid has announced that French forward Kylian Mbappé has been included in their squad for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, and he will travel to Qatar this week.
There were doubts about Mbappé’s participation in the final after he sustained a foot injury during Real Madrid's 3-2 victory against Atalanta in Bergamo, Italy, last week in the UEFA Champions League. However, Real Madrid has confirmed that Mbappé participated in the team’s final preparation session, taking part in both team and individual training.
Real Madrid secured their spot in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup by winning the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League title. They will face Mexico's Pachuca in the final, who earned their place after winning the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup and defeating Brazil's Botafogo and Egypt’s Al Ahly.
The final will be held on December 18 at the Lusail Stadium near Doha, Qatar, which also hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
The FIFA Intercontinental Cup is a new club competition where the UEFA Champions League winners and the champions of other confederations' playoff winners compete each year.
Real Madrid fans are excited about Mbappé’s inclusion in the squad, especially as his presence in such an important final is expected to give the team a boost in confidence.
