Iran Executes Man Accused of Spying for Israeli Intelligence Agency: Report

Iran has executed a man convicted of providing Israel with intelligence about missile sites during last year’s “12-day war,” according to a report.

Hossein Pedaran was hanged after Iran’s Supreme Court upheld his death sentence on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation, Reuters reported Saturday, citing Iran’s Mizan news agency.

Iranian authorities alleged that Pedaran had provided information to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, Reuters reported.

The Department of War said that “Operation Rising Lion,” also known as the Iran-Israel war, was an armed conflict between the two countries during which Israel launched a series of surprise attacks against key Iranian facilities, including nuclear and military sites.

The execution comes amid continued tensions between Iran and Israel and heightened scrutiny of individuals accused by Iranian authorities of cooperating with Israeli intelligence.
