Iranian Regime Fears Its Own People More Than U.S. Strikes -Dr. Majid Sadeghpour

Iran’s ruling regime is reportedly more willing to continue confrontation with the United States and its Gulf neighbors than pursue peace, partly to keep its increasingly disillusioned population under control, according to an expert.

Dr. Majid Sadeghpour, a human rights activist and political director of the Organization of Iranian-American Communities, told Fox News Digital that the Iranian leadership is less concerned about military action against the country than it is about growing domestic discontent and the possibility of a popular uprising.

Sadeghpour said U.S. officials had offered Tehran guarantees that provided a potential path toward peace, including assurances that Washington would not seek regime change in Iran. However, he argued that Iran continued military actions afterward.

According to Sadeghpour, Iran continued attacks on ships and also targeted U.S. bases in Jordan and Bahrain. He said this indicates that the regime’s greatest threat is not military strikes from abroad but rather the possibility of an uprising by the Iranian population.

The expert suggested that continued confrontation with the United States could also serve as a political tool for Iran’s leadership. By portraying the U.S. and other foreign powers as external enemies, the regime can attempt to rally public support and divert attention from domestic grievances.

The report highlights the growing challenge facing Iran’s leadership as it seeks to contain public dissatisfaction. Sadeghpour argues that, rather than pursuing peace, the regime may view prolonged confrontation as a means of protecting its political power and maintaining control at home.
