At Least 32 Killed and 700 Injured as Twin Earthquakes Strike Venezuela; State of Emergency Declared
At least 32 people have been killed and 700 others injured after twin earthquakes struck Venezuela, according to interim President Delcy Rodríguez.
Rodríguez said international rescue teams from several countries are expected to arrive in the coming hours to support ongoing emergency operations. She also thanked Donald Trump for offering assistance in the aftermath of the disaster.
Earlier, the government declared a state of emergency after the back-to-back earthquakes caused buildings to collapse in the capital and forced the closure of Venezuela’s main airport. Rescue efforts remain underway as authorities assess the full extent of the damage, with concerns that the casualty toll could rise further.
