Al-Azhar University has announced that it will offer full-funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students, as stated by the university's Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb. The announcement was made during a meeting with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the COP29 conference.
During their conversation at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Dr. Al-Tayeb also extended an invitation to Professor Yunus to deliver a lecture at Al-Azhar University. He emphasized the university’s commitment to providing full-funded scholarships for talented Bangladeshi students, aiming to strengthen academic ties and support higher education in Bangladesh.
Dr. Al-Tayeb expressed confidence in Bangladesh’s future prosperity under Professor Yunus' leadership, stating, “You are a wise person. After the revolution, Bangladesh will reach new heights. I salute your efforts to work with wisdom.”
Professor Yunus thanked Dr. Al-Tayeb for the invitation and suggested that the Grand Imam visit Bangladesh to witness the country’s progress in person after the anticipated political changes. The announcement of the scholarships marks a significant opportunity for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education at one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
