New York Correspondent : Over 30 Indian Flights Receive Bomb Threats on October 19

On October 19, more than 30 flights from various Indian airlines, including Vistara, Air India, and IndiGo, received bomb threats, according to sources. The threats were communicated via social media and targeted both domestic and international routes.

Among the affected airlines were Akasa Air, SpiceJet, Star Air, and Alliance Air. Reports indicate that this week alone, at least 70 flights have been subjected to similar threats, most of which have proven to be hoaxes.

Specific incidents included a note found in the lavatory of a flight, claiming there was a bomb onboard. Vistara confirmed that five of its international flights received threats: UK106 (Singapore to Mumbai), UK027 (Mumbai to Frankfurt), UK107 (Mumbai to Singapore), UK121 (Delhi to Bangkok), and UK131 (Mumbai to Colombo). An airline spokesperson stated that all relevant authorities were promptly notified and security protocols were followed.

Additionally, Vistara flight UK624 from Udaipur to Mumbai was taken to an isolation bay for checks after landing due to security concerns. IndiGo also reported threats affecting four flights, including 6E17 and 6E11, both flying to Istanbul. In these cases, affected aircraft were isolated upon landing, and passengers were safely disembarked.

On October 18, three international Vistara flights had received bomb threats that turned out to be false alarms, with one flight being diverted to Frankfurt as a precaution.

In response to the growing number of hoax threats, the Civil Aviation Ministry plans to implement stricter regulations, including placing offenders on a no-fly list to deter such incidents.
