BI Intensifies Investigation into RG Kar Hospital Case, Interrogates Former Principal for Second Day

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has ramped up its probe into the tragic case of a 31-year-old doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. As part of the investigation, the agency continued its interrogation of the hospital’s former principal, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, for the second consecutive day on Saturday.

Officials familiar with the matter have disclosed that a team of experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi has been dispatched to Kolkata to conduct specialized tests on the accused, Sanjay Roy. These tests include a psycho-analysis and a layered voice analysis, which are critical in determining whether the accused is withholding any information from the investigators.

“A special team from the psychological and behavioural analysis unit of CFSL has already reached Kolkata on Saturday to conduct these tests,” said an officer involved in the investigation. “Such tests are instrumental in helping investigators identify any signs of deception or concealed information.”

The CBI, which is spearheading the investigation, is also considering approaching the court to seek mandatory permission to conduct a lie-detection test, commonly known as a polygraph test, on the accused. The decision to conduct these tests underscores the agency’s commitment to ensuring a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the case.

In addition to the psychological and forensic tests, a dedicated 25-member team from the CBI has been stationed in Kolkata to expedite the probe. The agency’s focus remains on uncovering the truth behind the horrific crime and ensuring justice is served.
