UNGA overwhelmingly votes for Palestine rights

At the UN, a resolution to increase Palestine’s “rights and privileges” is approved with the support of 143 nations, nine votes against, and 25 abstentions.

The UN is being criticized by Israel’s envoy for “welcoming a terror state into its ranks.” Since Israel started moving soldiers east of Rafah and stepping up attacks, about 110,000 Palestinians have left the city, according to UNRWA.

The UN claims that the Israeli army’s seizure of the Rafah border crossing has prevented supplies from entering Gaza for the last three days, “completely crippling humanitarian operations” while the crisis worsens. Israeli bombardment on Gaza have resulted in at least 34,943 deaths and 78,572 injuries since October 7. There have been 1,139 deaths in Israel as a result of Hamas’s October 7 strikes, and other individuals are currently in detention.
