The Crash
The aircraft took off from Ahmedabad Airport at 1:39 PM local time. Within minutes, it crashed into the hostel of a medical college in the city. At the time, students were having lunch, resulting in numerous additional casualties among hostel residents.
Survivor’s Account
Ramesh Vishwashkumar, the only known survivor, was seated in 11A. He described the horrific moment:
"Just 30 seconds after takeoff, there was a deafening noise. Everything was destroyed in an instant. When I opened my eyes, there were bodies everywhere. I somehow dragged myself out and ran."
His brother Ajay, who was also on the plane, remains missing.

According to Flightradar24, the aircraft was delivered to Air India in 2014. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and GE Aerospace are dispatching investigative teams.
Aviation analyst Anthony Brickhouse, after reviewing crash footage, noted:
"The aircraft’s landing gear was still deployed during takeoff, which is unusual. It appears the plane may have been attempting to land again."
